The problems facing us all are enormous, but there are ways
to make a difference.
- Get informed. Don't be pressured into believing that these are issues
best left to 'experts' to deal with. ISEC publications and articles are good sources of information,
as are the other organisations on our links page.
- Contact your elected representatives to let them know you don't
support policies promoting economic globalisation. Tell them you don't
want your tax money to continue subsidising the huge corporations
that are destroying local economies worldwide.
- Join the protests against corporate rule, 'free trade', the WTO,
and other instruments of globalisation.
- Keep money from 'leaking out' of your community by using local merchants.
Buy direct from local farmers whenever possible.
- Invest locally. Support new local initiatives and ventures.
- Help to set up a farmers' market or local currency in your community.
- Join a Roots of Change study group, or start
one in your area.
- Participate in the Learning from Ladakh (formerly 'The Farm Project') project .
- Invite the Local Food Roadshow to visit
a local group, or arrange to display the Roadshow posters at a local
venue.
- Contact us to support ISEC with a donation.
Over the years we have made a real difference: we have altered the
course of development in Ladakh, informed millions of people worldwide
about the real meaning of development and 'progress', and have been
on the cutting edge of the globalisation debate. Contributions may
be sent to our UK or US offices, or click on the button below. Donations
from US taxpayers are tax-deductible.
